A group of our students priced our options, we had a budget of $60:00, then they selected our food. They brought onions, tomatoes and cucumbers- (from the food pyramid eat everyday), beef patties and bread rolls- (from the food pyramid eat some). We also had strawberries for dessert. We had chef Tai, Blue, Te Okewhare and Sam cook our beef patties. We had a very healthy and enjoyable shared lunch. A special thanks to Jasmine from the Heart Foundation and New World. We created our art using tesellation patterns. We were able to reflect, translate or rotate our template. We have been learning about the nutritional values found in food. We went to New World to read the nutritional values of cereals, breads, snack foods and milk products. We listened to and read the iBook about using good manners. We then worked in pairs to create our instructions. Always wash your hand before you sit at the table. Say grace or a karakia (as necessary). Always say please and thank you. If you have guests, greet them nicely. Start eating when the host sits down. Put your napkins on your lap, unfold to half way. Be kind to any guests. When you have finished your food, put your napkin on your plate. Never put your elbows on the table. Never lick your knife. Never reach over people's food. Be polite to guests. Hold knives and forks correctly. Never talk with your mouth full. When passing food around, pass it to your right. When you have finished eating, place both your knife and fork in the middle of your plate. When you finish your dinner, say thank you to the host. If you spill something, clean it up. Leave your chair from the right side. Always push your chair in when you leave the table. Take your dishes to the sink. Help with the dishes and clearing the table. |
